A Short Guide for the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department
Driver’s License Information

The law for all Tucson real estate owners is that if they work in the state, are registered to vote in the state, have children attending school, have a business located in the state, or stay in the state for a period of 7 months or longer, they must purchase an Arizona license.
New Tucson real estate owners will need to fill out a Driver’s License application first. Then you are required by Arizona law to provide two valid forms of identification, including one that has to have a recent photo to verify your identity. You will have to provide the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department with your Social Security Number as well.
Vehicle Services
Another important thing you must do after buying Tucson homes for sale and officially making the city your residence is to register your vehicle with the Arizona Motor Vehicle Department. Your vehicles will need to be registered for either a one year period or a two year period depending on your preference. Once the vehicle is registered, you will need to pay the Vehicle License Tax. This particular tax takes the place of property tax in the state of Arizona. Much of the money collected from this particular tax goes to help fund much of the maintenance and improvements needed for the highways and roads in the state.
You will also need to purchase Arizona license plates for your vehicles as well. In order to get your vehicle officially registered, you will have to put your vehicle through a physical inspection, emissions test, provide proof of ownership, loan information. Once you have your vehicle registered and your new driver’s license, you can enjoy the benefits of being a permanent resident of Arizona.
