Santa Rita High School was originally established in 1969 and got its name from the Santa Rita Mountains that are located outside the city of Tucson. There are two main buildings containing the majority of classes that students attend.
There are around 1,200 students enrolled in the school, and each individual graduating class has 300 or more students. There are many different types of extra-curricular activities and programs available for students at the school. They have a football athletic program as well as a basketball team. The basketball team won the state championship in 2010. They offer a variety of classes like Band, Culinary Arts, and Welding.
