Pima County has also been noted as the only county in the entire state to vote against the gay marriage ban.
Tucson has been known to support Democratic candidates while Phoenix has been primarily a Republican city that supports more conservative candidates and policies.

A weak mayor model is where the mayor of the city shares the executive powers of the office with a city council, and the ability to make laws rests with the council rather than the mayor.
The mayor of Tucson is an elected official who is put into office by the votes of the citizens of Tucson. The actual operations that help the city to run smoothly are given to the city manager who is appointed by the council. Council members and the mayor all serve a four year term, but there is no limit to the amount of terms these individuals may serve in their positions.
