This lake may be quite small, but because of this, it offers a quiet retreat nestled in the Catalina Mountains. Before you go fishing here, there are some things that you will need to know so that you can have the most enjoyable fishing possible.

Getting Prepared

Before you leave you Tucson home, make sure you are ready for fishing at Rose Canyon Lake. This lake is quite high up and it gets quite cold in the mornings and evenings. That means you need to dress appropriately. In addition, this means that the lake is only open during a certain time. You can only go fishing and camping here between April and October. When you choose to fish here, keep in mind that the lake is stocked only with Rainbow Trout, so make sure that you have the right fishing gear packed.

If you plan on making your fishing trip a small vacation, then you will be glad to know that there are plenty of campsites available, and there is fresh drinking water available at each site. The lake even offers a concession stand where you can get snacks, beverages and fishing gear during your excursion.

Location

When you leave your Tucson home, you will just need to drive 30 miles to the northeast of the city. All you need to do is take Catalina Highway and the turnoff to the lake is located at milepost 17. The lake is quite easy to find and easy to enjoy.
