Learning is an Art at DeGrazia Elementary School
Located approximately 14 miles northwest of Tucson you will find a school full of Dustdevil’s at the DeGrazia Elementary School. Named after the artist Ted DeGrazia this school is designed with art in mind and you can tell that right away from looking at the impressive exterior of the school. A variety of programs are available for students here as well as specialized clubs and a very active parent and teacher organization.
Programs and Clubs
The DeGrazia School has an excellent art enrichment program and offers an Artist-in-Residence Program funded by grants. Through this program students enjoy learning art skills such as Japanese Taiko drumming, painting and mosaic tile art. Band and Orchestra is offered to students in grade 5 and 6 and provides students the opportunity to explore both left and right brain learning that happens when learning to play a musical instrument. After school students who are struggling with their math are able to attend a free program to maximize learning and help students who need additional time with their math studies.
Parent Teacher Organization
At the parent teacher organization, of DeGrazia Elementary School, parents and teachers work together to provide the best possible resources to the students of the school. Fundraisers are completed throughout the year and funds from those go to various school programs such as upgrading the technology equipment, playgrounds and supplies. Meetings are held monthly and open to the public.
The parent teacher organization of DeGrazia also sponsors the Books and Beyond program, Science Alive and Sea Camp programs offered throughout the school year. The dedication of the parents and teachers in this group makes it possible for students to enjoy added resources.
