Excellence in Education at the Marana School District
Located northwest of Tucson, this area school district serves the town of Marana and surrounding communities. The school district covers over 550 square miles and staffs more than 1,800 employees. The small class sizes at the Marana school district help to promote excellence in achievement. Living in the town of Marana, or the surrounding area, makes it easy to enjoy all the top quality schools that are offered in the Marana Unified School District.
Schools
Marana offers eleven elementary schools for grades k-6 and one intermediate school for 4th through 6th graders. Two traditional middle schools are available as well as two traditional High Schools. Marana also offers a career and technical high school with open enrollment but is designed as an alternative placement for students age 16 and older who are struggling in the traditional high school.
Special Programs
Within the Marana school district the needs of all students are actively addressed. Students with special needs that include physical challenges are able to receive therapy throughout their school day. Speech therapy is also available for children struggling with speech issues or delays. The school district also offers a comprehensive preschool program for children ages 3 to 5 who have developmental delays or physical handicaps. Another important aspect of the Marana schools is their dedication to accelerated students in such programs as their Talented And Gifted, T.A.G., where students get to move on to high grade level learning as their skills require.
Awards and Recognition
The Marana school district has received the state A+ rating as well as the National Blue Ribbon for excelling schools. The Marana Unified School District has also received several influential grants such as the McKenney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grant, U.S. Department of Education grant to expand counseling services and the Process and Leadership in Worksite Health award.
